• microgolf is free and in beta. Things can change, break or be reset.
• You need to be 14 or older for an account. Anyone can play as a guest.
• Play fair: no bots, no scripts, no tampering with results.
• Keep names, photos, maps and posts legal and friendly. We remove what isn’t.
• You can delete your account at any time.

What these terms cover

microgolf.io is a free minigolf game for the browser, run privately by Daniel Bersenkowitsch (“we”). The Imprint says how to reach us. These terms apply whenever you use the site. By creating an account you accept them. You can save or print this page from your browser.

microgolf is an independent fan project. It is not made, endorsed or licensed by TripleFun, the makers of Microgolf Masters, and has no access to accounts or purchases from that game. The Imprint says more.

The game is in beta. We may change rules, physics and features, and in rare cases reset scores, streaks or maps. We don’t promise that the site is always available or free of errors.

Your account

• You must be at least 14 years old to create an account. If you’re under 18, ask a parent or guardian first. Younger players can play as guests, without an account.
• One account per person. Your account is yours: don’t share, sell or hand it over.
• Use a real email address you can read, and keep your password to yourself. Tell us if someone else got into your account.
• Your username is public. It must not pretend to be someone else or the microgolf team, and it follows the same rules as everything else you post.

Fair play

Everyone plays the same daily, once. To keep the results worth something, you agree not to

• use bots, scripts or other tools that aim, shoot or play for you,
• change, fake or replay results, or play a daily more than once with several accounts,
• use a bug to your advantage instead of reporting it,
• overload, attack or probe the site, or collect its data in bulk.

Our server replays every daily shot to check it. We may remove results that weren’t played fairly.

What you create

Your username, profile photo, maps and map names, posts, comments, images and videos on the Course Board, reviews, survey answers and reports are “your content”. It stays yours.

You allow us to store your content and to show it in microgolf the way the feature you used is meant to work: a shared map can be seen, played and copied by others, a Course Board post can be read by other Greenkeepers. This permission is free of charge, applies worldwide, and ends when you delete the content or your account. Copies other players already made of a shared map stay with them.

Ideas and feedback you send us may be used to improve the game without payment or credit.

Only post what you’re allowed to post: your own work, or work you have permission to use.

What isn’t allowed

In usernames, photos, maps, posts and anything else you put on microgolf:

• anything illegal, or that calls for something illegal,
• hate, insults, threats or harassment, against a person or a group,
• sexual content, and anything that sexualises or endangers minors,
• depictions that glorify violence or cruelty,
• other people’s private information, such as addresses, phone numbers or photos of them,
• content that violates someone’s copyright, trademark or other rights,
• advertising, spam, scams or harmful links,
• pretending to be another person, another player or the microgolf team.

How we moderate

Two things happen. A word filter checks usernames and map names when you enter them and refuses some words automatically. Everything else is looked at by a person: we read every report and look at content ourselves when we come across it. No other automated tool decides about your content or your account.

If content or behaviour breaks these terms or the law, we can

• remove or hide the content, or stop a map from being shared,
• reset a username or remove a photo,
• remove results from the standings,
• end your Greenkeeper status,
• suspend your account for a while, or close it for good.

We choose the mildest step that solves the problem, and look at how serious it is, whether it happened before and whether it was on purpose. Serious cases, such as threats or content that endangers minors, lead to an immediate ban, and we report them to the police where the law requires it.

When we restrict your content or account, we tell you by email what we did, why, and which rule or law it’s based on, unless the content was plain spam. If you think we got it wrong, reply to that email or write to support@microgolf.io. A person looks at it again. You can also go to court.

Report content

Seen something on microgolf that is illegal or breaks these rules? Tell us:

• By email to support@microgolf.io. We confirm that we got your report and tell you what we decided.
• In the game with “Report a problem”, or “Report this map” on a shared map. That is the quick way; for an answer, email us or report while signed in.

So we can act on it, please include

• what it is and why you think it’s illegal or against the rules,
• exactly where it is: the link, the username, the map or the day,
• your name and email address (not needed when you report content that sexualises minors),
• a sentence that you believe, in good faith, that what you tell us is correct and complete.

A person reads every report, as soon as we can. If we act against someone’s content, they learn why, but not who reported it. Don’t use reports to harass other players; repeated false reports can lead to the steps above.

Greenkeepers

Greenkeepers test microgolf before everyone else. Taking part is voluntary and unpaid, and gives no claim to stay in the program: we can end it, or your part in it, at any time. Test features can be unfinished and can change or disappear.

What’s ours

Our code, artwork and texts are protected by law. You may play microgolf for yourself, for free. You may not copy, resell or rehost it, or pass something of your own off as microgolf. Sharing links, screenshots and videos of your play is welcome. Names and games of others that we mention belong to their owners.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. The Privacy page says what is removed. We can close an account that breaks these terms, as described above. We can also stop running microgolf; if we do, we announce it on the site beforehand where we can.

Liability

microgolf is free and provided as it is. We are liable for damage we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, we are not liable for slight negligence, in particular not for lost scores, streaks or maps or for downtime. We are not responsible for what other players post, but we act when we learn of a problem.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example when the game gets new features or the law changes. For a change that matters, we tell you in the game or by email at least 14 days before it applies, and say what changes. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account before that day. If you keep using your account after it, the new terms apply; the notice will say so again.

Law and disputes

Austrian law applies. If you’re a consumer living in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim before the courts there. If one part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest stays in force.
